Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

By using Der Leyner you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The service

Der Leyner is a free, contributor-supported educational tool for practicing Yiddish reading and translation. It is offered as-is, and features may change or be paused at any time.

AI feedback

Translation grading and word definitions are generated by an AI model. They are meant as a learning aid and can be incomplete or mistaken; they are not an authoritative translation or scholarly judgment. Use your own discernment.

Acceptable use

Please use the site for personal learning. Do not attempt to overload it, circumvent rate limits, scrape it in bulk, or use automated tools to consume the AI features. We may limit or suspend access that threatens the service or its costs.

Texts and licensing

The source texts are drawn from Wikisource and used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license, with attribution given on the About page. Any reuse of those texts must comply with that same license.

Donations

Donations are voluntary, help cover running costs, and are non-refundable. They do not purchase any product, service level, or guarantee.

No warranty & liability

The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site.

Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after changes means you accept them.
